Rocketeer helmet one day build

This is the finalized bronzed version of the helmet on display at Rapier Wit. A gift to Dan and Kirsten for letting us stay at there house. I had been wanting to build this helmet for a while and also wanting to work on my helmet making skills.

the helmet is made out of gummed paper tape and foam core. The eyes were platsic bits from the recycling I heated, formed and tinted. For the rivets I used foam paper.

I had seen this paper tape dress form and wanted to try it on a smaller scale:

Previously Amanda and I made a dress form out of duct tape. What I wanted was rigidity and I didn't get it out of either. The duct tape was cheaper and faster so Id say thats the better way to go.
Next time I may pour an epoxy resin on top to harden it.

Here is the first version of the faux painted mask (with the lovely set provided by Dan and Kirsten's beautiful home). I was happy with the paint job but kirsten has some really cool ray guns that are aged bronze so I repainted the helmet to better suit the gun.

and that's it.
